9th International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities in Ionising Radiation Research

The 9th international conference on Social Sciences and Humanities in Ionising Radiation Research (RICOMET2023) will take place in Dessel, Belgium on 30 August – 1 September 2023.

RICOMET & History

RICOMET provides an opportunity for extensive exchange of results between professionals developing research in the field of social sciences and humanities (SSH) and the broader technical and scientific community involved in topics related to ionising radiation since 2015 (see previous RICOMET). Communication with the general public, risk perception and ethics in relation to all nuclear applications (e.g. industry, medicine, security), natural radioactivity (e.g. radon, food industry) and radiological protection (environmental remediation, decommissioning, nuclear and radiological emergency management, low doses, communicating uncertainty, mass media communication, public understanding of ionizing radiation, and research needs) are some of the topics covered during these events.

The conference attracts a very wide range of representatives of international institutions/organizations including public communication experts, media representatives, journalists, researchers from social sciences, humanities and natural sciences, radiation protection officers, nuclear medicine practitioners, nuclear power plant operators, other nuclear industry professionals, nuclear safety authorities, project partners, as well as NGO’s and representatives of the civil society.
